Well let's give this a shot shall we?

I've never been much of a "blogger" before, and I'm not sure how long I'll stick with it, but it seems silly not to give it a try!

I've been living in Utah now for about 2 1/2 months and been married for 5 months TODAY! We don't really do "anniversaries" like this, but it's still an exciting milestone! Being a newlywed has been pretty intense...I can honestly say that when I was told that being a newlywed would be tough and living together will take some time to adjust to, I laughed! We spent our entire relationship living a thousand miles away from each other, and we couldn't wait to finally live together and not have to struggle through the distance anymore. How could it possibly be bad at all?? Well....it's not bad at all, but it's definitely an adjustment!
I love waking up to Mark every single morning and getting to go through the mundaneness (is that a real word??) of life together, but it was obvious pretty quickly that neither of us was completely willing to let go of all the "personal space" we had gotten so used to while living apart. We live in an apartment barely over 400 sq ft so there is an extreme lack of anything that even looks like "personal space", but it's cute and it's OURS and that is precicely why I love it so much! (Even with kayaks taking over the bedroom!)
Through the last few months we have had more fights and "make ups" than we'd ever had in our relationship, but I can honestly say that I feel closer to my husband now more than ever. We are bound to have issues throughout our years together, and since we are still in the "newlywed" phase I'm sure there will be more soon, but we are learning how to argue in a way that leaves us feeling better about the issue. Constructive vs. destructive. I am proud of us!
If there is any advice I can offer from my obvious extensive knowledge of marital bliss (HA), it would be...lose all your expectations and love your life for what it gives you everyday. He might love a certain hobby a little too much, never close cabinet doors, announce bowel movements like you asked for the information, and insist on putting hot sauce on EVERYTHING, but he's yours and if you're as lucky as I am, he's pretty awesome despite any flaws....and cute too! =)

Now if only I found the state of Utah as great...
