No more vacation =(

How did the past 4 days go by so fast????

I was SO EXCITED to not have to work and get to spend so much time with my husband...of course it flew by.

Driving home from work on Wednesday afternoon was a freaking nightmare...everyone on the road had the same mission - "GET HOME FAST" - and didn't seem to mind coming close to causing accidents to get there. Driving on the shoulder in a construction zone? Really? Wow. I called Mark in near tears...people here lack any common sense when it comes to highway driving.
Finally make it home and start getting things ready for the Thanksgiving meal we were having with friends the next day. We took a break in the night to go look at a townhouse we are interested in moving in to. SO NICE! I love it! It's triple the size of our current place, not that much more in rent, great location, and I'll never have to do laundry outside of my home again! The other option is hubby's favorite. We haven't seen the inside yet other than pics, but the best part of this place is that it is literally ON the side of a mountain. GORGEOUS view!!! This place is even more in our price range and has a fireplace. We will hopefully get to look at it this week!!
Between Wed night and Thurs morning I made both desserts...a caramel apple cheesecake and a Guinness (hubbys fav) spice cake.
Thursday we had Thanksgiving with hubby's military friends. None of us had ever made a turkey before, but it ended up being the best turkey I've ever had! The guys wrapped it in bacon (it then became their baby that they tended OVERLY closely too all day) and shoved a can of beer inside it (no clue). The whole day was so much fun and I definitely enjoyed it more than I thought (was NOT looking forward to being away from my family).
Black Friday shopping was not something on my to-do list, and hubby decided it would be OK to wait until later in the morning to go too...we were out the door by 10:30am and shopped until around 3! I bought zero Christmas presents, but I did manage to find a few things for myself =) Christmas shopping will most likely be done online this year...that way I can ship things directly to the house they need to go to. No middle man involved!
Saturday we sat around and were total bums...we went to an indoor wavepool in the evening (it was one of hubby's kayaking events) and then went out in Salt Lake City with a couple friends! Slept cuddled up in a ball on a Lovesac all night...I wish I could say that was a sweet night and I slept like a baby...WRONG, I have a stiff neck still. But hubby was sweet and made sure I was comfortable before he went to bed. What a guy haha
Yesterday, even bigger bums than I thought was possible...got up and drove back home, decided just to go straight to the grocery store (we looked great), then went home to put everything away. Hubby's OCD kicked in and he spent quite a while rearranging the cabinets to fit everything in a more organized way...whatever. We ended up falling asleep on the living room floor for over an hour...so so so nice!
Today is Monday, I'm back at work and SUPER grouchy!!!!

No clever title

Sunday nights might be my favorite night of the week. I should hate it...Monday is only a few hours away, I have to wait the WHOLE week to get any REAL quality time with the one person I love more than anything, and I have to go to bed earlier...boo.
But there is a peace in my Sunday nights that I don't get any other day. We've been through an entire week of work and being tired, and a couple nights of fun, only to come out on top and get to start it all over again.
The starting over is what makes me happy. It means my life is a success, my marriage is happy and thriving, and things are on the right track.
I have a beautiful life.

TGIF!

Yay we got adopted for Thanksgiving! =)
Spending the holiday with some of hubby's friends...it will be nice!

Meeting hubbs after work to hang out with some of his friends and then go out for a bite to eat. New Moon tomorrow! Didn't even have to twist his arm to go...he's going willingly!
Maybe a little indoor rock climbing...we shall see!

Looking forward to having the weekend off...definitely ready for some quality time with my love!

I am thankful for...

Tis the season to be Thankful! haha

These are all the things in life that make me really happy right now...I think I've been a grump lately and it's time to focus on the positives...

-my gorgeous husband and our fun and wonderful marriage (to add to that...the fact that a friendship turned into something so much more than I ever could have hoped for...also, that he wore Converse sneakers to our wedding)
-Our Christmas tree!
-my parents and my brothers...nuf said
-Ivy Jean...I don't even see her anymore but hearing her sass my mom through the phone is enough to turn a bad day completely around
-skinny jeans
-Christmas music
-looking at my wedding rings
-cheddar cheese (seriously...who doesn't love cheese??)
-listening to the silly songs my hubby sings all the time
-hugs and kisses whenever I want (after dealing with a long distance relationship/marriage for so long...it's nice to know that I don't have to wait a month for either)
-dark chocolate
-shopping (having money finally is a nice feeling! haha)
-Phase 10
-my fish babies!
-sleeping in on Tuesdays and Thursdays
-cuddling
-my daily conversations with my Mom
-random texts from my brother
-apartment hunting (sometimes doesn't make me so happy, but I love that we get to do it together)
-hearing "I love you" as much as I do
-Facebook (yep...)

I'm sure more will come to mind!

It's the most wonderful time of the year!

Ok, so technically it's not...it's not even Thanksgiving yet...but I've been feeling homesick and slightly dreading a holiday away from my family, so my hubby is spoiling me and letting me have my holiday fun a little earlier this year!

On Saturday, we took a trip to Target. I had every intention of buying a little (SUPER little) Christmas tree to just put on our table and that would be the extent of our Christmas decorating. Our apartment is small and jam packed with stuff so we didn't think we would be able to have a big tree. BUT, when we were looking at trees, the Christmas bug bit Mark and he agreed to a healthy 6-footer! He managed to come up with a way to rearrange the furniture so we could fit the tree, and ended up making our apartment look way more put-together than it ever has! Way to go baby! The ornaments on the tree are red, green, and silver, and we got a silver star for the topper! Our stockings are hung on the wall and there is a big dish of candy canes on the windowsill! Mark did all the lights and helped with the ornaments, and even played Christmas music while we worked =) what a guy!
The only thing I'm not winning on so far is watching The Polar Express before Thanksgiving. I keep telling him that if we don't use the 3D glasses we really aren't getting the full experience so it doesn't really count. No go so far. I'll keep working on it. =)

This was such a great weekend...spending so much time with my hubby and with our friends...just can't wait to have another weekend just like it!
Thanksgiving is SO SOON!!!! We don't have plans, it will be just the 2 of us, so I'm coming up with the menu for our Thanksgiving for 2! If I get my way there too, it will be nothing but green bean casserole and pumpkin pie. =)

Analyze this one...

Hubby wakes up this morning, and the first thing he says is "we are going to be the world's worst parents...good morning".
WTH.
Continues to explain that he had a dream that we had a baby and we kept putting it in a lunch box and leaving it on a shelf at WalMart, then someone took the lunchbox and he had to find them so he could get our baby back. Again, WTH.
I have no explanation.

Fireproof

Pet peeve of the day...

Couples who claim to be living in marital/cohabital bliss, no arguments, no stresses, no problems...it's a lie. You CAN BE madly in love and completely compatible and still hit bumps. It's fine, it's normal, it's healthy. Don't piss in the air and say it's raining.

Having said that, I FULLY recommend ALL couples watch the movie Fireproof. It was recommended to me by a coworker as a way to strengthen my relationship with my husband and help us see a side of marriage that maybe we hadn't taken the time to think about before. This coworker hit the nail on the head. The religious aspect of the movie was slightly hard for hubby and I to swallow, as we both have consciously stepped away from our faiths and chosen to explore a life led by good morals and consciously good decisions rather than a set of religious "rules". Aside from that, it really encompassed the difficulties that marriages can face even after many years together. When the husband and wife were explaining their reasons why the marriage was failing, we heard ourselves talking. Obviously in a much lighter way, but it forced us to face the realization that even little things can become much much bigger if not seen, and openly worked on, immediately. My husband actually looked at me and said "I never want to sound like that with you" and I agreed wholeheartedly. Great movie, go rent it. Better yet, buy it. I am.

Our entire night together last night was fantastic. Veterans Day has never meant anything more to me than a day off work (shameful huh). Well, I am now a proud military wife to a veteran of our current war. I was sad to learn that even in a military state, my employers did not recognize this holiday as a day worthy of letting us stay home. I would have loved to have been able to spend the day with my husband, who IS a veteran. Frustrating. However, we made the best of it by making a DELICIOUS dinner together (pesto chicken and homemade mashed potatoes...and a cold Guinness of course) and watching Fireproof. I am very very proud to have married into a military family (my father in law retired from the Air Force after 20 years of active service) and to the most gorgeous Airman I know. =)

Also, the pesto chicken was so freakin delicious that I have to share the recipe.

1/3 c mozzarella cheese
1/4 c pesto
1/4 c Grey Poupon mustard
4 boneless skinless chicken breasts

-mix 1/3 c mozzarella cheese, pesto, and mustard
-spread over chicken; add the rest of the mozzarella on top
-cook 20-25 min at 350 degrees
(we covered the pan in foil to make it extra moist)

Eat it. Love it. =)

Weekend bliss!

This weekend was one of the best in a while!

Friday night hubby and I went out for my friend Gwen's birthday...which was nice, because since I've lived here we have only spent time with his friends. It feels nice to be the one making plans for a change! After dinner, we went out with a few of hubby's Air Force friends...I was DD so it was SUPER fun (and by fun I mean not fun) for me. It was nice to see him having so much fun, and meet the few people I haven't met yet.
Worked Saturday, then went shopping with hubby and one of his friends. Hubby bought a new kayak (yes, there are now 4 kayaks living in my bedroom) and I bought a super cute pair of skinny jeans and some new sweaters! LOVE THE JEANS so excited to wear them! Saturday night was a boring night at home...we treated ourselves to sushi for dinner, then got lots of sleep!
Not before I took a blow to the head though...stood up to fast under a suspended cabinet in the kitchen, whacked my head on the corner and immediately started crying. IT HURT SO BAD! Hubby had to clean the blood out of my hair and check my eyes for signs of a concussion...definitely not a good ending to my great day =( All is well though...no stitches, just a bad headache and stiff neck/back for a day.
Sunday we went to 6th water (about 3 hours away) and hubby kayaked and I took videos...really cold but really fun. Came home and crashed =)

I'm beginning to appreciate his extreme love of outdoor adventures. I am excited to give winter weather sports a try and we have plans to go camping this weekend!

I definitely have a case of the Mondays...getting out of bed was nearly impossible this morning...we were so warm and cozy and definitely not in the mood to untangle from our morning cuddle session just to go to work. Boo.

WebMD

I have a problem with self-diagnosing illnesses...it's a habit I've been trying to break, but alas, WebMD has armed me with the confidence I can properly diagnose (and treat) any ailment.
I cannot.

{{sigh}}

I've got a case of the Mondays.

What a weekend!

This was one of those rare weekends that you can actually take the time to slow down and enjoy your time doing whatever it is you are doing. I even enjoyed grocery shopping this weekend, simply because I was enjoying my time with my husband!

Friday night, we went to see The Sounds...and as you may remember from my previous entry, I was none too excited about watching hubby oogle over Maja Ivarsson. Unfortunately, I have to now agree with him on her hotness...wow. Straight as an arrow, but she is hot. The concert was great! We hung out just the 2 of us, which I am still guiltfully craving alllllll the time. I can't help it! I have an awesome husband!
My only complaint about that night would be the incredible inconvenience of road construction shutting down the entire stretch of the highway home...we got lost in an extreme way (in separate cars...I may or may not have cried...we'll just leave that part alone) and had to stop for directions. What should have taken us 30 minutes, took us an hour and a half. Argh. To top that blissful little drive off, there was a sobriety check on the road we live on. Here's how that conversation went...
Cop - "Good evening ma'am, how is your night going?"
Me (in my head) - "Fine, fucker, mind taking the flashlight off my face?"
Me (legit) - "Fine."
Cop - *while shining his cute little flashlight in my car* "We are doing a standard sobriety and safety check tonight...have you had anything to drink tonight?"
Me (in my head) - "Duh."
Me (legit) - "Yea, like 5 hrs ago. Just one though."
Cop - "Well that's less than the standard 2 I usually hear."
Me (legit) - "Well if I had 2, I would have said 2. We are just coming back from a concert in SLC (referring to a duo, unfortunately I'm alone in the car)."
Cop - *shines his flashlight ALL over the inside of my car* "We? Ma'am, you're alone."
Me (in my head) - "Duh."
Me (legit) - "See that Jeep in front of me? My husband is driving it."
Cop - "Well, do me a favor and drive safe tonight."
Me (legit) - "I live at the top of the hill, we're good."
We come to find out that in SLC, Halloween weekend is referred to as the great DUI blitz. Another reason why I love this state.

Saturday afternoon, hubby added more to his collection of body art. I fully support this little addiction of his, mostly because I like watching! That night we went out with 2 of our good friends...hubby dressed as a zombie (the only Halloween costume he will ever wear) and I was a cat. Fun night! No arguing! We are getting somewhere!

Sunday was spent grocery shopping, boating, and relaxing! I LOVE my weekends!!

Let the workweek fun begin...
